Internet Week 2026 Concludes Successfully

Internet Week 2026 was held from May 12 to 15 at the NTUH International Convention Center. The four-day event brought together government agencies, international organizations, technical communities, industry representatives, and civil society to exchange views on topics such as network infrastructure, DNS governance, IP resource management, network operations, AI governance, digital trust, platform responsibility, and global internet governance. The event demonstrated Taiwan's sustained capacity for engaging with the global internet community and participating in technical governance.

This year's Internet Week 2026 was convened by the Taiwan Network Information Center (TWNIC), bringing together co-participating organizations including the Ministry of Digital Affairs (moda), the National Communications Commission (NCC), the Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC), the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the Taiwan Internet Governance Forum (TWIGF), and the Taiwan Network Operators Group (TWNOG). Through cross-domain forums, panel discussions, and international exchanges, the event connected government, industry, technical communities, civil society, and international organizations to promote dialogue and cooperation across all sectors.

The discussions over the four-day agenda of Internet Week 2026 concretely demonstrated that the challenges the Internet faces today are no longer confined to a single technical domain. Issues such as DNS Abuse, registration data disclosure, IP resource management, protocol upgrades, routing security, AI trust, digital sovereignty, platform responsibility, digital rights, and the resilience of critical infrastructure all involve the interplay among technology, policy, law, industry, and the public interest.

Through sessions including the ICANN APAC-TWNIC Engagement Forum, the 2026 Internet Communication Governance Forum, the APNIC-TWNIC IP Open Policy Meeting, the TWNIC Community Forum, the TWIGF (Taiwan Internet Governance Forum), and the TWNOG (Taiwan Network Operators Group), Internet Week 2026 placed network infrastructure, domain names and IP resources, network operations, AI trust, platform governance, and public policy on a single platform for discussion. This enabled different communities to understand each other's needs and limitations within a shared context, and further integrated technical issues into broader public discourse.

Through the joint participation of the public sector, international organizations, and technical communities, Internet Week 2026 concretely demonstrated the practical spirit of the multistakeholder governance model. It not only highlighted Taiwan's integration capabilities in public internet issues but also established an open, neutral, and diverse dialogue space for global internet governance exchanges. In the future, TWNIC will continue its role as the manager of Taiwan's .tw and .台灣 ccTLDs, as well as the IP address resource management organization, to collaborate with domestic and international technical communities, government agencies, international organizations, industry partners, and civil society. Together, they will promote a safer, more stable, trusted, and resilient internet environment, and continue to deepen the exchanges between Taiwan and the global internet community through platforms like Internet Week.

The content of all Internet Week 2026 sessions has been made public via official live stream videos. Interested communities and individuals are welcome to watch them online.
