The Taiwan Network Information Center (hereinafter referred to as the “TWNIC” or “this Center”) pays absolute respect and protects Personal Data and Privacy. This Privacy Policy describes our efforts and practices to protect Personal Data.

1. Applicability
   This Privacy Policy shall apply to the
   1. (1) Personal Data that this Center collects from or about you when you use our website services (including online customer service), apply for a Domain Name or IP/ASN address, register on or participate in any TWNIC events, and subscribe the TWNIC e-newsletters.
   2. (2) Personal Data that this Center indirectly obtains from the TWNIC registrars or Local Internet Registries (LIRs) when you apply for Domain Name to registrars or for IP/ASN addresses to Local Internet Registries (LIRs).
2. Purposes of Collection and Categories of Personal Data
   1. (1) In order to provide TWNIC Website services, this Center will preserve the related records, including IP addresses, usage time, browsers, and data in the cookies, generated by the system when you visit the TWNIC Website.
   2. (2) For the purpose of domain name management, IP address management, e- newsletter and event information delivery, event registration processing and contact, and other services as stipulated in the articles of organization Charter of this Center, this Center will collect and process necessary Personal Data. Please refer to the Matters Required for Notification Under Personal Data Protection Act or Personal Data Collection Statement of this Center for Personal Data collected for different purposes
3. Methods of Data Sharing, Provision, and Use
   Within the necessary scope of collection in accordance with the regulations stipulated by law or the terms and conditions set forth in the contract, this Center will use Personal Data by non-automated/automated means or other means appropriate to the contemporary technology.
   Unless as required by law or the Matters Required for Notification Under Personal Data Protection Act or Personal Data Collection Statement of this Center, this Center will not provide for, disclose to, or share with any third party the Personal Data of users without permission.
4. Duration of Preservation and Use of Personal Data
   Personal Data will be preserved and used during the existence of the purposes of collection or the duration as specified in the Matters Required for Notification Under Personal Data Protection Act or Personal Data Collection Statement of this Center. However, you may request this Center at any time to delete such Personal Data. TWNIC will process your request in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act.
5. Territory of Preservation and Use of Personal Data
   All hard copies of Personal Data will be preserved, on principle, on the servers of this Center located in Taiwan or overseas. This Center may also transmit Personal Data overseas as needed by the relevant services.
6. Use of Cookies
   When you visit the TWINIC website, this Center will collect and record your website behavior with Coolies. You may disable Cookies from the browser or device settings or by installing other applications or using similar technologies
7. Information Security and Website Security Mechanisms
   1. (1) This Center will process Personal Data as confidential data. We will use the universal standard Secure Socket Layer (SSL) security system on part of our website services to protect the security of data transmission.
   2. (2) This Center requests all TWNIC employees and contractors to sign the non- disclosure agreement to ensure zero leakage of Personal Data.
   3. (3) This Center is equipped with mechanisms for detecting and recording website intrusion. When users visit the TWNIC Website, such mechanisms will record their IP addresses and usage time. However, no individual users will be analyzed. The TWNIC Website will adopt whatever measures and technologies necessary to prevent the illegal access, diddling, leakage, loss, or damage of Personal Data. Recognizing that absolute security is not guaranteed for data transmission over the internet, when using or accessing via the TWINIC website any contents or services, you should be aware of and take the risk regarding data transmission over the internet.
8. Links to External Websites
   The TWNIC Website may contain links to other websites, and you may visit such websites by clicking on the respective links. However, this Privacy Policy will by no means apply to such websites. You are advised to refer to the privacy policies of such websites to protect your Personal Data.
9. Owner’s rights over Personal Data and Methods of Exercise
   1. (1) In accordance with Article 3 of the Personal Data Protection Act, you enjoy the following rights over Personal Data: To inquire, review, request for a copy of, supplement or correct, demand the cessation of the collection, processing or use, and erase Personal Data.
   2. Owners may exercise the above rights through the online customer service of this Center (requests for exercising such rights shall be subject to the return confirmation of TWNIC) or by post (mailing address: 3F, No. 123, Section, Bade Road, Songshan District, Taipei City). This Center will process all such requests as quickly as possible upon receipt.
10. Effects on Rights and Interests for Refusal of Provision of Personal Data
    It is your free will to provide Personal Data or request this Center to stop collecting, processing or using or to erase your Personal Data. When you refuse to provide Personal Data required by this Center to provide the related services or to stop collecting, processing or using or to erase your Personal Data, this Center will be unable to review and/or process your application and provide the requested services. Hence, this Center will reject your application for the relevant services. When performance of the agreement between you and this Center is so prevented, this Center may also terminate any agreement signed with you.
11. Policy Revision
    This Center will revise this Privacy Policy from time to time and publish the revisions on the TWNIC Website. Users are advised to check with the policy updates published on the TWNIC Website.
